Technical Education

Goal:

Prepare students with the knowledge, skills, and interest to guide them towards pathways into the fields of STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics).

Subjects Taught:

Technology Education – 6th, 7th and 8th Grade

Focus: Wood and metal processes, engineering/architecture, and problem-solving. Safety, measurement skills, and work ethic are also topics covered throughout the technology education courses.

Project Lead the Way – Intro to S.T.E.M.


Focus: S.T.E.M. related projects that introduce students to the world of technology, processes and problem solving. Subjects covered are 3D drawing, robotics and wood/metal processes.

Project Lead the Way – Design and Modeling (7th Grade)

Focus: Using AutoCAD to design parts and modeling them through building and 3D printing. The design process is also incorporated into other projects that require the students to build projects in the wood shop later in the semester.

Project Lead the Way – Automation and Robotics (8th Grade)

Focus: Building, designing and programming robotics with fischertechniks parts. Working in groups is also a focus within the class to practice team building skills.
