Message from Administration

At Urban Middle School, we believe middle school should be a time of growth, discovery, and belonging. Our goal is to provide a well-rounded and engaging experience that supports every child’s academic learning as well as their social and emotional development.

We know middle school is a big transition, but students quickly find their rhythm here at Urban and begin to feel at home both inside and outside the classroom. We encourage you to cheer your children on as they try new experiences, join activities, and build connections that will help them grow and thrive.

Our staff is deeply committed to the success of every student. You’ll see teachers opening their doors before and after school to help students, collaborating in teams to meet individual needs, and always going the extra mile to ensure every child feels supported and challenged.

Parents and guardians are such an important part of this journey. Here are a few ways you can help your child make the most of middle school:

• Give your child small responsibilities that build organization and independence.
• Encourage them to try new things and remind them that mistakes are part of learning.
• Learn alongside them about the unique needs of young adolescents.
• Help ease worries by talking through school routines, schedules, and supports.
• Stay involved by attending school events and staying connected with teachers.
• Celebrate your child’s growing independence while letting them know you’re always there for guidance.

I’m excited about the year ahead and the new opportunities it will bring. Most of all, I’m looking forward to partnering with you to make this a positive and successful experience for your child.
